Rattkesnake Saloon

Before sunrise this morning, I checked the weather forecast and saw that may have an hour of rain, but not severe. Then I decided to ride towards Tuscumbia AL to have lunch at the Rattlesnake Saloon http://rattlesnakesaloon.net

Prepared the Electra Glide… Gas tank almost full, check air pressure, pack rain gear, 2 water bottles, etc. Then left home after sunrise.

Made a stop to take a photo… sunrise on a lake

Then continued riding all the way to Tuscumbia. Once into Tuscumbia I was looking for the birthplace of Helen Keller and saw one of the 8 regional centers of the state agency I work for, Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind’s Tuscumbia Regional Center. *smiling*

Then stopped by Ivy Green, Helen Keller’s birthplace.

Afterwards, rode over to the Seven Spring Lodge where the Rattlesnake Saloon is. Decided to walk down to the Saloon. Fascinating… *smiling*

And here is the Rattlesnake Saloon.

Sat at one of the outside table and ordered The Rustle Burger and Onion Rings with lemonade.

After a delicious *burp* lunch. I had to take a walk and saw a huge bull and noticed a Canadian Goose gonna mess with the Bull.

Another look of the Rattlesnake Saloon.

On my return to home trip, I often like to take a different route and continue some sight seeing as well.

The northwestern parts of Alabama has many rolling hills.

As I got closer to Hartselle AL, I decided to pull over for a stop to wait a bit.wpid-p5110024-2013-05-11-17-33.jpg

Notice the nasty dark looking clouds in the background…

After waiting a bit, I rode some more. Not much, maybe 10 miles or so, then got some sprinkle rain. Pulled into a church parking lot that has a cover. Rode under the cover and got into my rain gear. Then started riding some more. By the time I am in Oneonta AL it was down pouring. *oh boy*

Wait a little while until the rain let up. Then rode all the way near Pell City AL. By then my rain gear is quite dried up. Pulled over and got out of the rain gear. Then rode all the way home with upper 70F, sunny, and cloudy.

Below is a rough draft map of most roads I did.

Some road trip stats.
Rode almost 11 hours round trip,
did 391 miles,
averaging 43.7 mpg,
spent $25 in fuel,
and lunch costed me $12 with tip.

LIFE IS GOOD!

Talladega Scenic Drive

Early this morning on my way to work, I rode the Talladega Scenic Drive with the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Classic. Riding the Glide from door to door took me about an hour and fifteen minutes. *smiling*

This photo below was taken along the Scenic Drive on Cheaha Mountains… and the photo’s background are Coldwater Mountains and Oxford AL.

…and of course the photo below shows Cheaha State Park, also known as the highest point in Alabama.

I was quite amaze how well the 2013 Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Classic handles the narrow roads with speed limits indicators of 25 to 35 MPH from Mt. Cheaha going down to Alabama State Route 21 between Munford and Talladega. The H-D Electra Glide rides so much better than the H-D Street Bob. *smiling*

Harley Owners Group

Harley-Davidson been around for 110 years now… and the Harley Owners Group for 30 years. *yay!*

Received my quarterly magazine as I have been since I started riding the 2010 Harley-Davidson Street Bob back in October 2009.
